Students explore the Qur'an as Allah's revelation to Prophet Muhammad, learn how revelation began, and practice connecting a short passage to everyday life.

Core idea

The Qur'an is Allah's revealed word and the central source of guidance in Islam. It was revealed in Arabic to Prophet Muhammad through Angel Jibril over approximately twenty-three years.

The Qur'an contains guidance about belief, worship, character, earlier prophets, family life, justice, and our responsibility before Allah.

Teach with care

Focus on meaning and application. Avoid presenting verses as isolated science predictions or asking children to prove revelation through modern discoveries. Help students ask what a passage teaches about Allah and how it should shape conduct.

Suggested activity

Read a short surah students already know. Identify one repeated word or central idea, then invite students to draw or write one action inspired by the passage.

Facts to present

  • The Qur'an is Allah's revealed speech, sent to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Angel Jibril.
  • It is guidance: Muslims recite it, seek to understand it, and try to live by it.
  • A surah is a chapter; an ayah is a sign or verse.
  • Tafsir explains meaning and context; a translation is an explanation of meaning, not the Arabic Qur'an itself.
Qur'an 2:2
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil).
