This reusable workshop turns character topics into discussion, realistic practice, reflection, and a small action at home.

Choose one behavior

A broad topic such as respect becomes teachable when the class names one visible behavior: listening without interrupting, speaking gently, keeping a promise, or including someone left out.

Use realistic scenarios

Discuss situations students actually face without exposing a real child. Let students compare choices, likely consequences, and ways to repair harm.

Practice and revisit

Character grows through repeated action. End with one small commitment and revisit it the following week before introducing a new topic.

  • Akhlaq means character and manners shaped by faith.
  • Islam commands both justice and ihsan: doing what is right and striving for excellence and kindness.
  • Good character appears most clearly under pressure and when no reward is expected.
  • Truthfulness, patience, mercy, humility, and keeping promises are daily acts of worship.
  • Correcting bad behavior should preserve dignity and open a path to repair.

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِ ۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

Lo! Allah enjoineth justice and kindness, and giving to kinsfolk, and forbiddeth lewdness and abomination and wickedness. He exhorteth you in order that ye may take heed.

Character freeze-frame

  • Groups choose a school conflict and create a silent frozen scene.
  • The class identifies the problem and suggests a response using justice and kindness.
  • The group replays the scene with the improved response.

Debrief: Can kindness ever require a firm boundary? Give an example.

Before you teach

Choose one topic per session. Keep examples anonymous and never turn a public discussion into discipline for one student.
