Students organize the six articles of faith and see belief in the prophets as part of one connected message of worshipping Allah.

The six articles

Muslims believe in Allah, His angels, His revealed books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine decree. Jannah is part of belief in the Last Day, while the Qur'an belongs within belief in the revealed books.

One message

Allah sent prophets to guide their people. Muslims honor every prophet named by Allah and do not treat any prophet as divine. Their shared call was to worship Allah and live obedient, upright lives.

Classroom connection

Give six groups one article of faith. Each group explains it in one clear sentence and offers one way that belief affects a Muslim's choices.

  • Iman includes conviction in the heart and affects a Muslim's words and actions.

Qur'an 2:285
ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦ ۚ وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

The messenger believeth in that which hath been revealed unto him from his Lord and (so do) believers. Each one believeth in Allah and His angels and His scriptures and His messengers—we make no distinction between any of His messengers—and they say: We hear, and we obey. (Grant us) Thy forgiveness, our Lord. Unto Thee is the journeying.

Six-corner match

  • Write the six articles on six papers and place them around the room.
  • Read a clue, such as 'Jibril' or 'the Day of Judgment.'
  • Students move to the matching paper, then explain their choice to a partner.

Before you teach

Keep the focus on the six established articles of faith. Do not teach the Qur'an, Jannah, or another topic as a separate seventh article.
