Welcome and hook

Ask: What makes it easier to talk honestly to someone you trust?
ANSWER KEY: Trust grows when we know the listener hears us, cares, understands, keeps confidence, and has the ability to help. Allah hears and knows perfectly.
IF THE ROOM IS QUIET: Read the answer key, then ask students to give one example.

Qur'an 2:186

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ

And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright.

TIP: Read the English slowly. Students do not need to translate the Arabic themselves.

Teach these facts

Dua is worship: a person calls upon Allah with need, hope, praise, and humility.
Allah is near and hears every sincere caller.
We may ask for worldly and spiritual good while avoiding sinful requests.
An answer may come as what was requested, protection from harm, or reward saved for the Hereafter.
Delay is not proof that Allah has ignored a person.

Build a balanced dua

Write four headings: praise, thanks, request, and others.
Pairs compose one respectful sentence for each heading.
Invite students to share only what they are comfortable sharing; personal duas may remain private.
TEACHER TIP: Never require students to disclose private worries. Let them use a general example or write silently instead.
ASK: How does beginning with praise and gratitude change the way we ask?
LISTEN FOR: A balanced dua may praise Allah, thank Him, ask for lawful good, and remember others. Exact wording can differ and personal requests may stay private.

Check, reflect, and close

ASK: What is the most important idea from today, and how could you use it?
ANSWER KEY: A strong answer should include this idea: Dua is worship: a person calls upon Allah with need, hope, praise, and humility.
IF NEEDED, START THE SENTENCE: “Today I learned that…”
TAKE-HOME ACTION: Add one sincere dua to your routine for a week and pair it with one responsible action.
