STEP 3 OF 6
Qur'an 5:6
- O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and wash your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks.
- WHAT TO POINT OUT: Wudu is ritual purification required for salah when a person is not already in wudu.
- TIP: Read the English slowly. Students do not need to translate the Arabic themselves.

STEP 4 OF 6
Teach these facts
- Wudu is ritual purification required for salah when a person is not already in wudu.
- The Qur'an names washing the face, washing the arms to the elbows, wiping the head, and washing the feet to the ankles.
- Intention belongs in the heart; there is no need to announce it aloud.
- Use water carefully and avoid waste.
- For detailed rulings or disagreements, follow the school's approved fiqh guidance rather than guessing.
10MINUTES
STEP 5 OF 6
Wudu coach
- Use step cards or write the steps on scraps of paper.
- Pairs put them in order without water.
- One student pantomimes wudu while the partner coaches respectfully, then switch.
- TEACHER TIP: Use pantomime unless a suitable washing area is available. Do not embarrass a child over mistakes; pause, model the correction, and restart the step.
- ASK: Which step is most often rushed, and how can we improve it?
- LISTEN FOR: Look for correct order, complete washing or wiping, care around commonly missed areas, and avoidance of waste. Refer detailed disputes to approved fiqh guidance.

STEP 6 OF 6
Check, reflect, and close
- ASK: What is the most important idea from today, and how could you use it?
- ANSWER KEY: A strong answer should include this idea: Wudu is ritual purification required for salah when a person is not already in wudu.
- IF NEEDED, START THE SENTENCE: “Today I learned that…”
- TAKE-HOME ACTION: Practice wudu once at home while using less water, with a parent checking the sequence.
