Welcome and hook

Say a situation—good news, a future plan, a mistake—and ask which Islamic expression fits.
ANSWER KEY: Good news: alhamdulillah or masha Allah; future plan: in sha Allah; beginning good: bismillah; mistake and repentance: astaghfirullah.
IF THE ROOM IS QUIET: Read the answer key, then ask students to give one example.

فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓ أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لِى وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ

Therefore remember Me, I will remember you. Give thanks to Me, and reject not Me.
WHAT TO POINT OUT: Islamic expressions connect ordinary moments to remembrance of Allah.
TIP: Read the English slowly. Students do not need to translate the Arabic themselves.

Islamic expressions connect ordinary moments to remembrance of Allah.
Bismillah means 'in the name of Allah' and is said when beginning good actions.
Alhamdulillah expresses praise and gratitude to Allah.
In sha Allah recognizes that future plans occur by Allah's will; it is not an excuse to avoid commitment.
Astaghfirullah is a request for Allah's forgiveness and should accompany sincere repentance.

Prepare situations orally; no cards are required.
A volunteer silently acts out or describes a situation without using the target phrase.
Teams identify the fitting expression and explain its meaning.
TEACHER TIP: Model one example first. Keep teams small, invite quieter students without forcing them, and stop with two minutes left for the debrief.
ASK: How can we keep these phrases meaningful instead of saying them automatically?
LISTEN FOR: Accept the phrase only when the student can also explain its meaning and use it sincerely in the situation.

STEP 6 OF 6

ASK: What is the most important idea from today, and how could you use it?
ANSWER KEY: A strong answer should include this idea: Islamic expressions connect ordinary moments to remembrance of Allah.
IF NEEDED, START THE SENTENCE: “Today I learned that…”
TAKE-HOME ACTION: Track one expression at home for three days and write when and why you used it.
